Preparations For the Craft Mela
We recently talked about organising a craft mela in our school. All the things displayed there were prepared by the underprivileged children who were selected in the competitions in guidance of our group members Angad and Sheffi. The diyas were decorated by 4 girls living in Bengali Market, South City 2, Gurgaon who were selected through our first competition. The shagun envelopes were made by the members of our school’s interact club and were decorated by children selected in the third competition which was in Bagia School, South City 2. On 11th of October, we collaborated with an organization named Disha in the society Uniworld Gardens, Gurgaon which helps in teaching the children of workers of the society. We organized a drawing competition among those children, about 50 children of various ages participated and were very happy after the competition got over and received a little refreshment from our side. The phase 1 of our project happened in South City II’s Bengali Market on 7th of October 2011. About 20 underprivileged children came to participate in the drawing competition. They were mainly of the age group of 7-13 and participated with a lot of passion and enjoyement. And what were the results? Some of them did have the talent which could make them a good artist in the future! For the first hour they indulged themselves in drawing and for the next, they had fun dancing and singing.
